All residents of Mercy Ridge, both Independent and Assisted Living, are members of the Residents Association. The purpose of the Residents Association is to facilitate engagement, discussion, and participation, both within the Association and with management, with respect to matters related to our mutual interest and benefit. The Association’s annual meeting is held on the first Thursday in December. All residents are encouraged to attend.
Each year the Association recognizes the services and contributions of individuals, couples, or groups of people, residents or non-residents, who have contributed to the quality of life at Mercy Ridge. Acknowledgement is by means of annual awards; complete information on these awards is available here.
The Mercy Ridge Residents Council is the representative body of the Association elected by and acting on behalf of the residents of Mercy Ridge. The regular meetings of the Council held in March, June, and September are open to all residents. The Council performs the following duties for the Association:
The Residents Council is made up of twelve officers of the Association: the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Administrative Assistant, and seven Wing Representatives for each of the seven wings.

The Residents Association has authorized the following nine Standing Committees to support and pursue a satisfactory living environment for all residents of Mercy Ridge. A listing of all committee officers and members can be found here.
Serves as a liaison between Mercy Ridge management and the Residents Council. In collaboration with the Mercy Ridge management and staff, the committee works to assure that Mercy Ridge continues to be safe, mechanically sound, and aesthetically appealing to current and future residents.
Recent ReportMonitors the many aspects of the residents' dining experience by considering input from residents and making recommendations to management. The committee exists to insure good communication about and resident satisfaction with the dining experience.
Recent ReportProvides Mercy Ridge employees a token of appreciation from the residents. To accomplish this, a fund drive is organized twice a year, and contributions are collected and distributed to the employees of Mercy Ridge, except department directors.
Recent ReportMonitors and makes recommendations for the maintenance, improvement, preservation, safety, and aesthetic quality of the Mercy Ridge campus.

Recent ReportOperates the McAuley, Shannon, and St. Stephen's Green Libraries. Its goal is to provide home type collections of donated materials as well as newspapers and magazines provided by Mercy Ridge.
Recent ReportRaises funds for grants to outstanding student members of the Dining Services staff. The purpose of these grants is to recruit competent, responsible young people, retain them in their positions, reward their outstanding job performance, and encourage their future education.
Recent ReportAssists the Director of Resident Services in providing opportunities for residents to enjoy trips, entertainment, and special events that enrich cultural life at Mercy Ridge. The Committee also evaluates suggestions and gives feedback regarding trips and programs.
Recent ReportActs as a liaison between the management of Mercy Ridge and the residents on matters concerning environmentally sustainable operations. The committee informs, educates, and encourages cooperation from both residents and staff to achieve successful, sustainable practices.
Recent ReportThe Association relies on Hall Representatives, chosen by the residents of each hall of each independent living building at Mercy Ridge, to facilitate communication of resident concerns with the Council through their Building Wing Representative and to assist the Nominating Committee in identifying candidates for positions on the Council.

At its annual meeting on December 1, 2022, the Mercy Ridge Residents Association ratified amended bylaws. The bylaws reference two other important documents, the Residency and Care Agreement and the Resident Handbook.
The Residents Council also adopts and revises policy and procedure statements from time to time. There is currently only one: Policy on Standing Committees, Chairs, and Membership
